Female fan injured by foul ball at Indians game

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:42 p.m. ET

CLEVELAND (AP) A female fan has been carried from Progressive Field on a stretcher after being hit in the head with a foul ball by Washington's Daniel Murphy.

The unidentified fan was sitting down the right-field line - and may have been blinded by the sun - when she was struck by the hard shot from Murphy in the first inning of Tuesday night's game. Fans sitting in her section immediately called for security and medical personnel, who rushed to aid her.

The fan received some treatment before being placed on the stretcher. As she was carried up the steps, fans gave her a warm ovation.

The Indians did not have any immediate information on her condition.
