Extreme workout: Major league slugger turns it up a notch

With spring training less than a month away, most major leaguers have been working out in their offseason hometowns so they don’t show up to Florida or Arizona out of shape.

Plus, in today’s era — unlike the days your father or grandfather loves to talk about — ballplayers can’t slack off in the winter and just show up to spring camp figuring on getting in game-playing shape by Opening Day. There’s too much competition.

Even a guy who hit 152 homers the past four seasons isn’t going to relax and take it easy.

The below Instagram post is from Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, who led the majors in homers in 2010 (54) and 2011 (43) — injuries shortened his past two season when he hit 27 in 2012 and 28 last year.

So for you Joey Bats fans, don’t fret, he’s hard at work ... then again, maybe him and his buddies ran out of gas. (We're pretty sure Bautista is the guy on the lower right in the green sneakers.)
