Dodgers get one over on Choo — twice

Shin-Soo Choo is a career .289 hitter and bats leadoff for a playoff contender. But on Thursday night, he fell victim to two of the oldest tricks in the book, making the Reds-Dodgers game look like something out of "The Bad News Bears."

The trouble for the Cinicinnati center fielder started in the fourth inning, as he fell victim to a baserunning ploy by Los Angeles rookie Yasiel Puig and turned a single into a two-base error that put the home team's leadoff hitter on third.

Four innings later, Choo found more trouble on the base paths, only this time he was the runner. And the result was much more embarassing. While we don't know what Dodgers second baseman Skip Schumaker and shortstop Hanley Ramirez said, it certainly worked.

In the end, however, it was was Choo with the last laugh, as he went 2 for 5 and the Reds handed the Dodgers their first loss since the All-Star break with a 5-2 win.
