CHICAGO (AP) Rafael Soriano can earn an additional $1 million based on games pitched as part of his contract with the Chicago Cubs.

The reliever's contract was selected from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, and he will earn $1,725,137 for the remaining 77 days of the season, the prorated share of his $4.1 million contract.

His deal includes performance bonuses of $250,000 each for 20, 25, 30 and 35 games pitched, and $750,000 apiece for 20, 25, 30 and 35 games finished.

The 35-year-old righty agreed to a minor league contract with the Cubs on June 12 and pitched seven games at Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa.
