CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago Cubs have tendered contracts for next season to starting pitchers Jake Arrieta and Travis Wood, along with six other arbitration-eligible players.

Arrieta was 10-5 with a 2.53 ERA in 25 starts last season. Wood struggled after making the NL All-Star team in 2013, going 8-13 with a 5.03 ERA in 31 outings.

Reliever Pedro Strop - 2-4 with a 2.21 in 65 appearances - was also tendered Tuesday along with pitcher Felix Doubront, catcher Welington Castillo, infielder Luis Valbuena and outfielders Chris Coghlan and Justin Ruggiano. A total of 30 players from the Cubs' 40-man roster were tendered contracts, including 22 who are not eligible for arbitration, on Tuesday.

Catcher John Baker and pitcher Wesley Wright were non-tendered. Chicago's 40-man roster is now at 37 players.
