CHICAGO -- Cubs catcher John Baker is back in the lineup after taking a foul tip off his throat.

The play occurred during Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Mets, and Baker rested during Thursday's 7-4 win against New York. He is behind the plate again for the opener of a weekend series against Miami.

Manager Rick Renteria says Baker's vocal cords are "inflamed" and he is on some medication, but he is fine to play in Friday's game. Renteria says Baker has a neck guard, and he wants the catcher to avoid talking unless it's necessary.
