Coco Crisp joins Instagram, fills account with solid behind-the-scenes A's shots

With the recent news of Oakland A's outfielder Coco Crisp requiring elbow surgery to remove a bone chip and spurs, we may be getting a better picture of how he plans to spend the downtime.

Expected to miss at least six to eight weeks while he recovers and rehabs the elbow in hopes of rejoining the A's a few months into the season, Crisp has staretd up an Instagram account. Previously, he only had a Twitter account, but he's been posting heavily on the 'Gram over the past few days.

For A's fans, Coco's Instagram page looks to be a must-follow, as he's already posted some great behind-the-scenes images involving the A's, a night at the club with reliever Fernando Abad, some personal aquisitions (like a new Tesla), and more.

Here's a selection of some of his best posts this week:

He's also using it to document some normal everyday activities, like waiting at the doctor's office (not fun!) and picking up a flashy new car (fun!):

As for how the A's will make do without his services, they're expected to begin the year with a few outfielders in the mix for playing time: speedster Billy Burns, defensive whiz Sam Fuld, fellow defensive whiz Craig Gentry, and perhaps new slugger Mark Canha, with incumbent Josh Reddick slated for a return a week or so into the season.

Back to the Instagram fun — he's also shared group selfies on a bus ride with teammates including Stephen Vogt and Sonny Gray:

As well as his poker face while playing intense cards games in the clubhouse:

And, finally, posting pictures of his food like everyone else:

Don't forget about Twitter, where Crisp sent out a pre-surgery tweet before going under the knife Friday afternoon and posting post-operation recovery shots on Instagram ...

Until Crisp, 35, successfully rehabs his elbow and gets back in the A's lineup, look for his Instagram page to be a more than adequate distraction during your daily social media perusings.
