Cano leaves ASG after hit in knee

Published Jul. 16, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano hobbled off the field soon after being hit on the side of the right knee by a pitch from Mets ace Matt Harvey in the first inning of the All-Star game.

Cano was hit by a 96 mph fastball Tuesday night, but went to first base after being checked out by the trainers. Following a strikeout by Miguel Cabrera, Cano limped slowly across the infield in his electric-colored shoes.

Boston's Dustin Pedroia pinch ran for Cano and remained in the game.

Cano, one of the few Yankees stars who remained healthy through the first half of the season, leads the team with 21 homers and 65 RBIs.
