Brewers put Edmonds on DL

Published May. 18, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

The Milwaukee Brewers put outfielder Jim Edmonds on the 15-day disabled list with strained muscles in his left side.

The Brewers called up right-handed pitcher Marco Estrada from Triple-A Nashville to take his roster spot. Estrada went 1-2 with a 3.15 earned run average for Nashville.

Edmonds is batting .280 with three homers and eight RBIs in 27 games. He hurt his side while trying to check his swing during a game Saturday.

The 39-year-old outfielder took last season off. The Brewers added him to the roster in March, giving him a $850,000 base salary with a chance to make up to $1.75 million in bonuses.
