Brewers owner: Roenicke's job is safe

Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said Wednesday that manager Ron Roenicke is not in danger of losing his job despite the team's disappointing season.

Speaking at the Major League Baseball Diversity Business Summit, Attanasio told FOX Sports that Roenicke will remain in his position through the end of the season.

"We've had a lot of success under Ron," Attanasio said. "Ron's best attribute is that he's the same person when we won 96 games (in 2011) as, unfortunately, (during) a season where we're in last place."

Roenicke, now in his third year as the Milwaukee manager, is 207-187 with the team. Attanasio said Roenicke's steady demeanor was a key reason the Brewers made a late-season playoff push last year.

Attanasio said he hasn't had any discussions with general manager Doug Melvin about the possibility 2011 NL MVP Ryan Braun could be suspended by Major League Baseball because of the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drugs investigation.

"We're more focused right now on getting his thumb better," Attanasio said of Braun, who is currently on the disabled list.

"Doug Melvin and I have not had a single conversation about baseball's investigation and how it affects Ryan. We don't have any anxiety about it."

Asked how Braun is handling the uncertainty surrounding his status, Attanasio said, "I think he's doing fine. He's worried about his thumb."
