Braves' Class-A team throws back-to-back no-hitters

The pitchers on the Class-A Lynchburg Hillcats may be a few seasons away from the majors, but after throwing back-to-back no-hitters, they've definitely got the attention of the big club.

Cody Scarpetta and Benino Pruneda combined to no-hit the Wilmington Blue Rocks 5-0 on Friday, one night after Lucas Sims and Alex Wilson held them hitless during a 5-1 victory. Wilmington is an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

While Sims is a top prospect in the Atlanta Braves' system, Scarpetta is a reclamation project at age 25. The right-hander had Tommy John surgery in 2012 and was released by the Milwaukee Brewers organization last year before being signed by the Braves this month.

With Friday's seven-inning, seven-strikeout performance, he improved to 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA with Lynchburg.
