Published Jul. 15, 2010 9:17 p.m. ET

Rookie right fielder Jason Heyward has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and is in the Braves' starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Heyward is returning from a left thumb injury that prevented him from starting in Tuesday's All-Star game.

Shortstop Brandon Hicks was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves also placed left-hander Eric O'Flaherty on the 15-day disabled list with a viral infection. The move is retroactive to July 10. Left-hander Mike Dunn was recalled from Gwinnett.

Meanwhile, shortstop Alex Gonzalez, acquired from Toronto on Wednesday in a trade that sent Yunel Escobar to the Blue Jays, was listed as the No. 7 hitter in Atlanta's lineup. Gonzalez arrived in time for a team meeting before batting practice.
