Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and his family took in the San Francisco Giants game against the Atlanta Braves at AT&T Park on Friday night (the same night the Oakland Athletics hosted the New York Yankees in Oakland).

A's manager/Bay Area product Bob Melvin is an unabashed and open Warriors fan whose enthusiasm dates back to attending playoff games in the 1970s - so it's no surprise, then, that he extended an invite to Curry and he Warriors on behalf of the A's.

Melvin told Jimmy Durkin of the San Jose Mercury News that they're welcome to come whenever they want: "I've talked to Steve Kerr before," Melvin said. "They know it's an open invite to come out here, take BP, do whatever they want to do out here. I'd love to see them out here."

Melvin then took things a step further and spoke on behalf of Oakland itself - since, after all, the Warriors currently play a few hundred feet from Melvin's A's at the O.co Coliseum complex: "For me and Oakland in particular -- obviously they get the full support of the whole Bay Area being the only basketball team -- but here in Oakland we take significant pride in what they're doing. They're right here next door to us. We feel like they're an Oakland team even though they are a Bay Area club. It's very exciting. It's been a long time since they've been in this position and they get full support from us."

A's right fielder Josh Reddick, who went to the Warriors' Western Conference-clinching Game 5 victory last week, commented on Curry's appearance at the Giants game with this Tweet:

This story shines a bit of light on the kind of developments that can take place in a two-team market such as the Bay Area.
