AP source: Marlins' Capps undergoes MRI on sore right elbow

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) A person familiar with the situation says Miami Marlins right-handed reliever Carter Capps has undergone an MRI on his sore right elbow.
The person confirmed the test to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the Marlins have not commented.
Capps throws a 100 mph fastball, but he missed the final two months of last season because of right elbow soreness and sat out three months in 2014 for the same reason. The Marlins had expected him to challenge incumbent A.J. Ramos for the closer's job in spring training, but Capps was sidelined after throwing several bullpen sessions.
Last year Capps had 58 strikeouts in 31 innings, and his rate of 16.8 strikeouts per nine innings was the highest in the majors among pitchers with at least 15 innings. He had a 1.16 ERA in 30 games.
