Andrus leaves Rangers' loss with injured shoulder

Texas All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus left in the ninth inning of Sunday's Sunday 7-6 loss at Kansas City because of pain in his right shoulder.

Andrus, who was 2 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs, is hitting .296. He injured his shoulder on a slide.

''He said he had some soreness in his right shoulder,'' Rangers manager Ron Washington said. ''He's day to day. He'll probably be in there tomorrow.''

Andrus was replaced by Alberto Gonzalez, who made a costly fielding error in the 10th that led to the Royals scoring the winning run.

''It didn't really bother me too much,'' Andrus said of the shoulder. ''I noticed that every time I threw the ball, it was slowing down. In the (on-deck) circle, that's when I realized it was hurting. It's not bad. I took myself out more to prevent getting hurt worse.''
