Alvarez, Reimold homer as Orioles beat Pirates 5-3

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) Pedro Alvarez and Nolan Reimold hit back-to-back homers for the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday night in a 5-3 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Alvarez went deep in the first inning, his first at-bat at McKechnie Field as a visiting player. Selected by the Pirates second overall in the 2008 amateur draft, Alvarez signed with the Orioles three weeks ago as a free agent.
Josh Harrison's bloop, two-run triple was one of four hits the Pirates got off right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez in the first inning. Jimenez lasted just two-thirds of an inning and allowed three runs on four hits and one walk. He has a 12.27 ERA.
It was the second time this spring Jimenez did not make it out of the first inning. He managed only one out and gave up six runs on March 2 against Atlanta.
Minor league call-up Trevor Williams worked the first five innings for the Pirates. The right-hander allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out five.
