A-Rod passes Mays on career RBI list

Alex Rodriguez's fielder's choice in the seventh inning Sunday against the Detroit Tigers drove in Chris Stewart, marking the New York Yankees third baseman's 1,904th career RBI.

That moved Rodriguez into eighth place on baseball's all-time list ahead of Willie Mays. Rodriquez had tied Mays with an RBI infield single earlier in the game at Yankee Stadium.

Next up on the list is Eddie Murray, who drove in 1,917 runs.

Rodriguez reached the majors in 1994 with the Seattle Mariners and went on to join the Texas Rangers in 2001 and then the Yankees in 2004.

Beginning in 1998, Rodriguez drove in 100 or more runs in 13 straight seasons.
