Thomas managed seven points (2-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-3 FT), two assists and one rebound in 24 minutes during Wednesday's 123-89 loss to the Magic.
Thomas failed to obtain any control of the ball, scoring zero points (0-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt) in the first half and committing five turnovers overall. The performance is representative of a recent downslope, where he had shot 34.1 percent in the Wizards' previous five games. The 30-year-old's disappointments, along with backup Ish Smith's 18 points averaged through Washington's last seven games, may persuade team head coach Scott Brooks to alter the rotation in favor of the latter.
Thomas had 17 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one board and three assists in 23 minutes of a 99-94 win against the Celtics on Monday.
Thomas scored in double figures for the first time in five games as he helped his current team defeat his former team. The veterain guard's 2020 got off to a rocky start that included an ejectiontwo games ago in the opening moments. He'll try to carry this momentum into Wednesday's game against the Magic.
Thomas was ejected in the first quarter of Friday's game against the Trail Blazers for shoving a referee, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Holdahl notes that the shove may have been on accident. Regardless, Thomas won't return to Friday's contest, and the league will presumably review the incident to see if a suspension is warranted. Thomas is less than two weeks removed from serving a two-game suspension from the NBA for entering the stands during the Wizards' Dec. 21 loss to the 76ers.
