Jeff Fisher unsure if Todd Gurley will be ready for training camp
When the St. Louis Rams drafted running back Todd Gurley with the 10th overall pick in the draft, they knew it came with the risk that he may not be able to contribute right away for health reasons.
Gurley tore his ACL in November during his final season at Georgia. His progress has been all positive up until this point, but head coach Jeff Fisher says it is still too soon to know if Gurley will be a full participant at training camp at the end of July.
“It’s hard to say right now. I can’t predict that,” Fisher said, via the St. Louis Post Dispatch. “I know he’s doing well. He had a day off today because he’s doing so well. He’ll rehab with us during the break. ... We’re just going to see how he progresses. ... If he’s not PUP-ed (physically unable to perform), then I think you could probably assume that he’s going to play sooner than you think.”
Gurley is the running back of the future for the Rams. They will surely not rush him back until they know he is 100 percent pain free.
