Earl Wolff re-injures knee, could be out the rest of Eagles' preseason

When Philadelphia Eagles safety Earl Wolff was announced as a surprise inactive for the Eagles' preseason opener, it was an alarming sign. After the game, Wolff admitted that he is now dealing with the same knee injury that caused him to miss half of the 2014 season.

"It's just been getting worse and worse every day," Wolff said to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ Advance Media. "It got to the point where I couldn't walk after practice."

Wolff has missed recent training camp practices but he hopes to get back out there for at least one preseason game.

"That is my goal," Wolff said when asked if he would play again this preseason. "It feels better than it did three days ago, so it is improving."

Wolff hopes that he won't have to undergo surgery again, a procedure that would leave his 2015 season in doubt. Wolff is the only Eagles safety outside of Malcolm Jenkins with starting experience. If he is lost for the season, the Eagles may have to consider kicking Jaylen Watkins or Eric Rowe back to safety on a full-time basis.
