Bridgewater: Stefon Diggs 'brings a ton of energy' to Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings stumbled upon a spark plug in the fifth-round of last year's draft. They used that pick to select wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and the Maryland product has since helped create an electric atmosphere in Minnesota.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said Diggs' energetic personality has impacted the Vikings in a very positive way.
Via the team's official website:
Stefon Diggs, he brings a ton of energy to that team. He’s a young guy. He’s very confident, but he’s very energetic also. You watch him in practice, he’s the loudest guy out there. That’s what I love about him. He has that swag, the way he carries himself. Those are the kind of guys you want on a football team. Guys love being around him.
Diggs shot up the depth chart and finished the season as Minnesota's leading receiver. He caught 52 passes for 720 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, making him one of the most productive wide receivers from the 2015 draft class. Not bad for a fifth-round pick.
Minnesota's offense has been centered around Adrian Peterson's efforts at running back since 2007. Although the Vikings are still a run-first team, Diggs and Bridgewater give them a dynamic passing element that the offense has lacked in the past.
