Ryan Zimmerman's new contract with the Washington Nationals includes a five-year, $10 million personal services clause for when he finishes playing.
The deal will pay him $14 million per season from 2014-18, then $18 million in 2019, and there is an $18 million club option with a $2 million buyout for 2020.
Zimmerman's previous deal already gave him salaries of $12 million this season and $14 million in 2013.
If he's traded in 2012 or 2013 - something general manager Mike Rizzo vowed Sunday not to do if he's still the GM - Zimmerman's salaries rise to $16 million in 2014, and $18 million in 2015-18. The option stays the same, but the personal services part would be voided.
