The New York Yankees have scored 11 runs in the third inning against the Toronto Blue Jays. They sent 14 batters to the plate during the 37-minute marathon.
The 11-run inning Saturday tied the Blue Jays' franchise record for most allowed, set in the seventh inning of a 16-12 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Aug. 6, 1979.
Brett Gardner hit his first career grand slam in his second trip to the plate of the inning, while Alex Rodriguez also drove in four runs. His fielder's choice drove in one run, and left fielder Josh McDonald lost his two-out fly ball in the sun and it dropped for a three-run double.
Mark Teixeira drove in two runs with a double and Robinson Cano added an RBI single.
