WATCH: 108-year-old woman throws out first pitch for Mariners

The baseball trash-talk phrase "You throw like your grandma" took on a whole new meaning at Safeco Field this weekend.

At 108 years old, Evelyn Jones became the oldest person to throw out a first pitch Saturday before the Seattle Mariners’ game against the Los Angeles Angels, and scouts everywhere are raving about her major league potential.

Well, not really.

But even though Jones might be a few years past her prime, she throws better than any grandma we’ve ever seen. See the video above for proof.

Looks like she decided to go with the Chad Bradford submarine approach. That’s a good way to keep the hitters guessing.

Jones -- a Woodinville, Washington, native -- has been a life-long, die-hard Mariners fan, but hasn’t yet been rewarded for her dedication to the team, as Seattle has yet to reach a World Series.

When ESPN senior writer Jim Caple asked her what the secret is to living a long life, Jones responded with some potentially ground-breaking, scientific information.

“Keep having birthdays.”

While a shot at the pros probably is out of the question, the 108-year-old definitely impressed baseball fans everywhere with her first pitch. Thanks to her, pitching like your grandma no longer is an acceptable form of smack-talking.
