Want to read poetry on a bear rug with a major leaguer?

When Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Josh Collmenter heads to Australia for a two-game series against the Dodgers, it won't be just about baseball -- it will be about love.
The Australian publication The Daily Telegraph has been running a contest called “Win a date with Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Josh Collmenter” since Valentine’s Day. Aussie women were instructed to post an Instagram picture @mlbsydney2014 or tweet @mlbsydney2014 for a chance to win dinner with the pitcher at Balla at the Star restaurant in Sydney.
The date, of course, would coincide with the Diamondbacks trip Down Under to kick off MLB’s regular season with a two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In case you are a woman living in Australia, and you are reading this right now, and you are interested in reading poetry on a bear rug in front of a fireplace with a real major leaguer – here’s the rest of the bachelor’s dating profile courtesy of mlbsydney2014.com:
Height: 6’4
Weight: 102kg
Eye Colour: Heavenly Blue
Special Skills: Master of Wizardry
Josh likes long walks on Bondi beach, reading poetry on a bear rug in front of the fireplace and tall, athletic women whose offspring will likely result in a college scholarship.
His Michigan roots make him comfortable in cold weather but his Viking blood keeps him warm on winter nights.
His beard whispers sweet nothing in the wind and he’s not opposed to moving to Australia once his career is over.
Josh’s ideal date would include a chartered yacht on Sydney Harbour followed by a showing of Don Giovanni at the Sydney Opera house and dinner at Balla at The Star.
Ladies, does that sound like something you might be interested in?
And if that wasn't enough, this seductive video will surely convince anyone who's balking at taking a chance on the very available 28-year-old millionaire.
But it’s not Collmenter that hopeful suitors have to win over with their submissions; it’s a “board” of his teammates which consists of J.J. Putz, David Hernandez, Patrick Corbin, bullpen catcher Mark Reed, and director of player and media relations Casey Wilcox.
According to Putz, the suitors will be rated “on a scout’s scale of 20 to 80.” 20 would obviously be low and 80 would be mind-blowingly hot.
The winner of the contest will be announced on Friday and who knows, it just might stick.
