Town offers to rename itself for Nationals rookie

Even before Washington Nationals rookie Stephen Strasburg throws a pitch in a major league game, a Virginia town is offering to rename itself in his honor.
Keith Fauber, town manager of Strasburg in the Shenandoah Valley, says the town council will sign a resolution at its meeting Tuesday night bestowing ``pride of Strasburg'' recognition of the rookie pitcher.
Strasburg, the top pick in last year's amateur draft, will make his much-anticipated big league debut on that same night against Pittsburgh in Washington, D.C.
Fauber says the town of 6,200 wants the player to visit during the town's 250th anniversary celebration in 2011. He says if Strasburg does, the town will rename itself for ``a day, or a week.''
Strasburg, Va., is located 81 miles west of the nation's capital.
