Tim Tebow reportedly has a contract offer ahead of his baseball showcase

Tim Tebow will work out for scouts from perhaps two dozen major-league teams today, but he already has a contract offer from team in the Venezuela winter league, according to Yahoo Sports.

Aguilas del Zulia, which has won five championships in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and two Caribbean Series titles, would like to add Tebow to its roster. But it likely will have to wait on his decision.

The 29-year-old former QB will hold a showcase today in Los Angeles in hopes of convincing at least one major-league organization that his baseball aspirations are more than just a dream.

Tebow, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2007 with the Florida Gators and spent three seasons in the NFL with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, hasn’t played organized baseball since high school. He hit .494 and was an all-state outfielder as a junior in 2005 but then chose to pursue football.

Although he has had plenty of critics since the moment he announced his plan to attempt this career change, Tebow also has had plenty of supporters, including former major-league slugger Gary Sheffield and former major-league closer David Aardsma.
