Tim Lincecum slips during delivery, eats it
By Matt Birch
Tim Lincecum tried so hard to strike out Marlon Byrd on Thursday night that he lost his footing and hurled a wild pitch toward home plate that no hitter would have considered swinging at.
With a runner on second base, and a 3-2 count on Byrd, Lincecum was looking for a strikeout. However, things didn’t turn out exactly how he had hoped.
Lincecum has a violent windup and unorthodox delivery, so it’s important that he plants his right foot when hurling the ball toward home plate.
When the Giants pitcher delivered the 3-2 pitch to Byrd in the fourth inning of Thursday night’s game, he lost his footing and slipped off the rubber. This was the result.
It was Lincecum’s third time slipping off the rubber in this game.
