Sources: Dodgers not done dealing

First Hanley Ramirez, now Brandon League.

And the Los Angeles Dodgers still aren’t done.

The Dodgers could make at least two more deals before Tuesday’s non-waiver deadline at 4 p.m. ET., according to major league sources.

The team is in discussions with the Philadelphia Phillies about outfielder Shane Victorino and continues to talk to the Chicago Cubs about right-hander Ryan Dempster and outfielder Alfonso Soriano, sources said.

The trades could hinge on one another.

The acquisition of Victorino almost certainly would preclude the Dodgers from getting Soriano, who became part of the Dempster discussions when the teams were unable to reach agreement on a simpler trade.

Dempster, whose service time gives him the right to veto any deal, remains adamant that he will only approve a trade to the Dodgers, sources said. The Braves, who had a deal in place for Dempster last week, only to see him reject it, went in another direction Monday, acquiring left-hander Paul Maholm and outfielder Reed Johnson from the Cubs.

The Cubs are “trying to bend over backwards” to send Dempster to his preferred destination, one source said. The two sides remained at an impasse, however; the Cubs wanted better talent than the Dodgers were offering, yet lacked leverage to press the issue.

If the Cubs retain Dempster, a potential free agent, they will need to make him a one-year offer for about $12.5 million to qualify for draft-pick compensation. And Dempster could very well accept the offer.

A Dodgers trade for Victorino should be easier to accomplish. One of the Phillies’ potential targets, right-handed reliever Josh Lindblom, became more expendable for the Dodgers on Monday after the team added League to its bullpen.
