Ken Rosenthal
Free-agent infielder Jamey Carroll has agreed to a two-year, $3.85
million contract with the Dodgers, according to a major-league
source. Incentives could push the deal past $4 million.
The A's offered Carroll more money, but Joe Torre and Don
Mattingly were the clinchers, a source said. Carroll is from the
same town as Mattingly -- Evansville, Ind.
Carroll hit .276 in 315 at-bats last season with the Indians.
