American League RBIs leader Miguel Cabrera is missing the Detroit Tigers' two-game series at Seattle while his wife gives birth to the couple's second daughter.
The games Tuesday and Wednesday are the first ones Cabrera will have missed this season. He leads Detroit with a .331 batting average, 10 home runs and 40 RBIs.
Thirty-year-old Don Kelly made his third career start at first base Tuesday in Cabrera's place. Magglio Ordonez moved from third to Cabrera's fourth spot in the lineup. Johnny Damon moved down from batting second to third.
Rookie leadoff hitter Austin Jackson was back in the lineup after missing one game. He had gone to a hospital Saturday after being hit in the left eye by a pitch from the Dodgers' Ramon Troncoso.
