Ross pitches into 7th, Padres and White Sox tie

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) Tyson Ross learned he would be the Padres' No. 3 starter then pitched into the seventh inning Saturday, allowing a runs and six hits in San Diego's 3-3, nine-inning tie with a Chicago White Sox's split-squad.

Ross, who will start on April 2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, worked 6 2-3 innings in his second spring start. He threw 94 pitches, striking out four and walking three. He will follow Andrew Cashner and Ian Kennedy for San Diego.

Avisail Garcia had an RBI single in the eighth.

Chris Beck, a White Sox minor leaguer, made his second spring start, allowing one run on six hits over five inning.

Padres second baseman Jedd Gyorko had an RBI double.
