The Colorado Rockies have activated first baseman Todd Helton from the 15-day disabled list and put him in the lineup Tuesday night against San Francisco.

Helton last played for the Rockies on July 4. He went on the DL three days later with stiffness in his lower back.

Helton turns 37 later this month. He is hitting .246 with two home runs and 16 RBIs in 69 games for the Rockies. He played three games in the rookie league last weekend on a rehabilitation assignment.

The Rockies optioned infielder Jonathan Herrera to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He hit .321 for the Rockies after being promoted from the minors following an injury to shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
