Reds' offense struggles during rocky start

CINCINNATI (AP) The Reds' season has started a lot like the last one ended.

Cincinnati's high-priced hitters couldn't drive in runs during the final week of the 2013 season, when the Reds dropped their last six games, including a wild-card playoff in Pittsburgh. Manager Dusty Baker was fired because of the meltdown, replaced by pitching coach Bryan Price.

They're swinging and missing again in the new season.

Cincinnati (3-6) is at the bottom of the NL Central after losing all three of its series to open the season. The Reds are batting only .214 with runners in scoring position. They've stranded 71 runners in their nine games.

They've scored only 27 runs, third fewest in the National League.
