Rangers' Choo leaves vs Oakland after hit by pitch on wrist

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 1:41 p.m. ET

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Texas Rangers designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo has left a game against Oakland after getting hit by a pitch on the left wrist.

Choo was injured when he checked his swing on a pitch inside from left-hander Ross Detwiler in the fifth inning Monday night and immediately went to one knee holding the wrist. He left after spending several minutes talking to an athletic trainer and was replaced by Nomar Mazara.

The 34-year-old Choo, who normally plays right field, has been limited to 45 games this season by calf and hamstring strains and lower back inflammation. He's been on the disabled list three times.

Choo is hitting .247 with seven homers and 17 RBIs in the third year of a seven-year, $130 million contract.
