Rangers add Tateyama to ALCS roster

The Texas Rangers have added some extra relief for the AL championship series.

Right-handed reliever Yoshinori Tateyama was added to the Rangers roster on Saturday before the opener of their series against Detroit. He takes the roster spot of third catcher Matt Treanor.

Texas had only seven relievers for the AL division series against Tampa Bay. The Rangers will go with eight in the bullpen for the best-of-seven ALCS.

Tateyama, signed by the Rangers as a free agent from Japan last November, was 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 39 appearances during the regular season. He is looking to make his postseason debut.
