The Chicago White Sox have put outfielder Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left shoulder.

The move is retroactive to Aug. 21. Quentin hurt himself the day before making a diving catch against the Texas Rangers.

Quentin is hitting .255 with 24 home runs and 77 RBI in 117 games for the White Sox this season.

The White Sox recalled utilityman Dayan Viciedo from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. He played in 38 games for Chicago last year, batting .308 with five home runs and 13 RBIs.
