Punto leaves with hamstring strain

Published Aug. 19, 2010 11:05 p.m. ET

Minnesota Twins shortstop Nick Punto left Thursday night's game against the Chicago White Sox in the fifth inning with a strained left hamstring.

Punto just came off the disabled list on Monday because of the same injury. He appeared to aggravate it on a headfirst slide into second base. There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury.

The game Thursday was Punto's first since returning from the disabled list. He had one hit in two at-bats against Mark Buehrle.

Alexi Casilla replaced Punto in the field to start the sixth inning.
