Prosecutor to discuss allegations against pitcher

Published Jul. 29, 2014 3:30 p.m. ET

DETROIT (AP) A Detroit-area prosecutor plans to talk to reporters about an investigation involving Toledo Mud Hens pitcher Evan Reed and allegations of sexual assault.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said she'll announce the results of her review at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Reed was with the Detroit Tigers when the allegations became public in April.

Messages seeking comment were left with Reed's attorneys Tuesday. In May, they said they were confident the case would be closed with no charges filed.

Reed was 0-1 with a 4.88 ERA in 27 games for the Tigers before being sent to Triple-A Toledo in June.
