PHOENIX (AP) San Diego Padres catcher Derek Norris left Monday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after being struck on the hand by a foul ball.

Norris was injured in the first inning when a foul ball by Paul Goldschmidt appeared to hit him on the top of the right hand.

Norris shook his hand and immediately went to a knee as San Diego's trainers came to check on him. He continued to flex his hand before walking to the dugout.

Norris was replaced by Austin Hedges.
