Padres' Latos on DL for aborted sneeze

Sammy Sosa finally has some nasal company.
The former Cubs slugger can't say he's the only one to have hurt himself via the sneeze.
That's thanks to Padres starter Mat Latos, who became the latest baseball player to hit the disabled list for a sneezing injury, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The 22-year-old pitcher was walking down some steps at Coors Field in Denver last Friday when he stifled a sneeze, causing him to experience pain in his side.
The Padres had planned to push back Latos' next start prior to his injury but now won't have to worry about reshuffling their rotation.
“If it had to happen at any time, this was a good time,” Latos told the Union-Tribune. “They wanted to put me on a break here.”
Latos also told the newspaper that he didn’t know exactly what his injury was, but he did say that he felt it “against my ribs.”
“Is it a big deal?” Latos added. “That depends on how it goes and how long I’ll miss. It’s sore. I am not going to lie.”
Latos, who began his stint on the 15-day DL last Friday, will be eligible to pitch July 24 in Pittsburgh.
Before his aborted sneeze, Latos joined Padres history as the 14th pitcher to win 10 games before the All-Star break.
He is 10-4 with a 2.45 earned run average in 17 starts.
