OF Rymer Liriano to begin season on DL with Brewers

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:01 p.m. ET

MILWAUKEE (AP) Rymer Liriano will begin the season on the 15-day disabled list as the Milwaukee Brewers outfielder recovers from injuries he suffered when he was hit in the face by a pitch.

Milwaukee also placed two pitchers on the DL on Thursday: Right-hander Zack Jones has a shoulder injury, and lefty Sean Nolin has an elbow injury.

The moves were made retroactive to March 25.

Liriano was expected to join the disabled list when he suffered multiple facial and nasal fractures after getting beaned in a spring training game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 20.

Liriano had been in the mix to start the season in center field. He was acquired by Milwaukee in January in a deal with the San Diego Padres.
