Oakland A's minor leaguer Sean Murphy dies at 27

Pitcher Sean Murphy, who spent six years in the Oakland A's farm system, passed away unexpectedly in Arizona on Monday at the age of 27, the organization announced.
"The A's are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Sean Murphy," Athletics EVP of baseball operations said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."

Drafted by the A's in 2010, right-hander Murphy compiled a 32-32 record and 4.26 ERA in 105 games before missing all of 2015 recovering from Tommy John surgery. In February, Murphy was suspended 50 games after testing positive for banned drugs a second time.
