Niese says he's OK after heart 'started racing'

Mets pitcher Jonathon Niese says he's OK after his heart ''started racing'' during a game over the weekend.

Niese said Monday that he's expecting to have a procedure called an ablation next month at the All-Star break to help the condition. He said it would be an outpatient treatment and he doesn't expect to miss a start.

Niese felt the irregular heartbeat on Sunday night when he singled and scored on a home run. He struck out a career-high 10 in six scoreless innings, leading New York over St. Louis 6-1.

The 25-year-old left-hander was checked by doctors Monday. He said everything was normal and that ''it's nothing serious.''

Niese felt the same thing with his heart during a game last year. He later wore a heart monitor on the bench.

Niese is 4-2 with a 4.11 ERA.
