Ike Davis has been removed from the New York Mets' lineup because of possible food poisoning.
The first baseman was pulled about 90 minutes before Saturday night's game against the Yankees. Daniel Murphy shifted from second base to first, and rookie Jordany Valdespin was inserted into the lineup at second.
Murphy dropped from the No. 2 spot in the order to fifth, while Valdespin was set to bat second.
Stuck in a brutal slump for the first two months of the season, Davis finally got rolling recently. He hit a three-run homer in Friday night's 6-4 victory over the Yankees and was batting .351 with three homers and 15 RBIs in his last 12 games.
