Marlins' Gordon dunks on homer-hero Ichiro during interview

Published Apr. 30, 2015 8:18 a.m. ET

Ichiro Suzuki connected for his first homer of the season --€“ matching his total from 2014 --€“ and then was ceremoniously posterized by teammate Dee Gordon on Wednesday night.

Ichiro's three-run shot in the eighth inning provided some cushion in the Miami Marlins' 7-3 win over the New York Mets. And a seemingly routine postgame interview featuring Ichiro and his translator then took a bizarre twist.

Gordon also had reason to celebrate, recording his fourth consecutive multi-hit game and the go-ahead RBI. He leads the majors with a .409 average and 38 hits.

Ichiro is just the latest victim of Gordon's postgame jams, joining Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich.

With the win, the Marlins took two of three in the series against the NL East-leading Mets and improved to 10-12 on the season.
