On Monday, the Seattle Mariners reached an agreement with Nick Neidert on a $1.2 million deal, it was reported by Joey Nowak of MLB.com.
Neidert was the M's top pick in the recently-conducted MLB Draft, taken by Seattle with the 60th overall selection. 12 picks later, they selected Oregon State University hurler Andrew Moore.
A high school pitcher from Lawrenceville, Georgia, Neidert starred on the pitching staff for Peachtree Ridge High. Nowak notes that Neidert has an 'advanced' change-up and throws a fastball that can hit as high as 96 MPH on the radar, so it's easy to see why the Mariners opted to use their highest Draft pick on him.
