Mariners activate Gutierrez from DL

The Seattle Mariners activated outfielder Franklin Gutierrez from the 60-day disabled list and placed outfielder/first baseman Mike Morse on the 15-day disabled list with a right quad injury.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Gutierrez, the Mariners designated outfielder Eric Thames for assignment.
Gutierrez has been on the disabled list since April 23 with a right hamstring strain. Additional issues stemming from an inflammatory condition prolonged the recovery until doctors were able to diagnose the issue and get him on the correct medication.
Morse had been playing in limited duty with the quad strain since suffering the injury on May 28. Manager Eric Wedge said he was still feeling the effects of the injury and it necessitated the trip to the disabled list.
Gutierrez is in the lineup for Seattle tonight against the Oakland A's. He's playing center field and batting sixth.
