Maikel Franco hits 2 home runs; Phillies lose to Orioles 8-7
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) Maikel Franco, baseball's home-run leader in spring training, homered twice and drove in four runs Monday in the Philadelphia Phillies' 8-7 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
Franco has six home runs and 14 RBIs in 11 games this spring.
Both his homers came off Yovani Gallardo, who allowed three homers in 2 1-3 innings. Gallardo, making his second start, both against the Phillies, has allowed four home runs in 4 1-3 innings. Tyler Goeddel led the off the game with his first home run of the spring against Gallardo.
Manny Machado and Adam Jones homered for the second time this spring for Baltimore. Paul Janish hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Orioles an 8-7 lead
Alec Asher allowed four runs on four hits in three innings for the Phillies.
