Spring training is in full-swing in MLB's Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues in Florida and Arizona. Halfway around the world, former big leaguer Jonny Gomes is starting spring training in Japan.

Gomes, 35, agreed a one-year deal with the Rakuten Golden Eagles earlier this month. After signing his contract and getting his visa, Gomes reported to camp in Kumejima, Okinawa on Tuesday. The 13-year MLB veteran introduced himself to his teammates in the most Jonny Gomes way possible, saying "I love to win, mix in a couple beers along the way."

"I'm not here just for myself," Gomes said in the video from FNNLocal. "I'm here to win. You obviously need 25-plus guys to win. I'll help everyone out ... and at the same time try to get my video stats as well."

Gomes played for seven teams during his MLB career, including the 2013 World Series champion Boston Red Sox. He told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal in February that he decided to play in Japan because he was growing tired of waiting for an opportunity from a major-league team.
